Rekey or replace?
Rekey when your locks turn smoothly and you like how they look. Replace them when the hardware is loose, damaged, very old, or you want a higher security grade or a smart lock. Questions we hear
Does rekeying make my old key useless?
Yes. Once a lock is rekeyed, the old key will no longer turn it, even though the lock itself looks the same.
How long does a rekey take?
Each lock only takes a few minutes once the technician is at your door, so most homes are finished in about an hour. Larger homes with many locks take longer.
Can you rekey a lock if I have no working key?
In most cases yes. If the lock can be removed, it can be rekeyed without the old key.
Do I need to be home?
Someone should be there to let the technician in and receive the new keys. We can rekey a rental if the landlord or property manager has approved the work.
