A key fob that stopped working, got wet, or went missing does not always mean a trip to the dealership. Locksmith Knights programs replacement and spare key fobs, remote head keys and many smart keys at your location in Raleigh and Wake County.
We can also add a second fob so you are never down to a single key.
What we program
- Remote head keys and flip keys
- Push-to-start proximity fobs
- Replacement fobs for lost or broken remotes
- Spare fobs to add to existing keys
- Fob battery replacement and troubleshooting
- Reprogramming a fob that lost its pairing
How it works
- Call with the make, model and year, and if possible the VIN.
- We confirm the right fob and check that your vehicle supports onsite programming.
- We cut the blade if needed, program the fob to the car, and test lock, unlock, trunk and start functions.
- You keep the working fob and any spares we make.
Dead battery or dead fob?
If the buttons work intermittently, try a fresh battery first. If the car does not recognise the fob at all, it likely needs programming. We can tell on site and avoid selling you a new fob you do not need.
Proof of ownership
For security, we ask for ID and proof that the car is yours. This protects you from someone else making a key to your vehicle.

Questions we hear
Do I need to go to the dealership?
Not for most vehicles. We program many fobs on site. A few makes require dealer tools, and we tell you that upfront.
How many fobs can I have?
Most cars allow several. We recommend at least two.
Can you program a fob I bought online?
Often yes if it is compatible, but we cannot guarantee a part we did not supply. Call first so we can check.
