Losing every key to your car is stressful, especially when it happens away from home. The good news is that you rarely need a tow. Locksmith Knights can make a new key at your car in Raleigh and Wake County, cut by code or by lock, and program it so the car starts.

We work every hour of the day, including nights and weekends.

What we do when keys are lost

  • Verify ownership and look up your key code using your VIN
  • Cut a new key without needing the old one
  • Program the new key to the car’s immobilizer
  • Open the car first if you are locked out
  • Remove lost keys from the car’s memory where the vehicle supports it, so they can no longer start it
  • Make a spare key during the same visit

How it works

  1. Call us with the make, model, year and the car’s location.
  2. We confirm the type of key your car uses and the right key blank.
  3. A technician comes to you, checks your ID and registration, and cuts and programs the key.
  4. We test it before leaving and suggest making a spare.

If the keys were stolen

If you think the keys were stolen along with your address or wallet, tell the technician. Removing the stolen key from the car’s memory and rekeying the door and ignition where needed helps prevent a repeat.

Before you call a tow truck

A tow to a dealership adds time and cost, and many dealerships need days to order a key. A mobile locksmith can usually finish the same visit. See transponder key programming and key fob programming for the types of keys we make.
