Panic bars, also called exit devices or push bars, let people leave a building quickly in an emergency. When one sticks, rattles or no longer latches, the door becomes a safety and security problem.

Locksmith Knights installs, adjusts and repairs panic bars and commercial door hardware for shops, offices, restaurants, churches and warehouses in Raleigh and Wake County.

What we handle

  • New panic bar and exit device installation
  • Repair and adjustment of push bars that stick or do not latch
  • Replacement of worn latches, strikes and trim
  • Outside key cylinders and trim for exit-only doors
  • Closers and door alignment that keep the hardware working
  • Rekeying the outside lock of a commercial entry door

How it works

  1. Tell us the door type (wood, metal or glass) and what is wrong.
  2. We inspect the door, frame and any fire-rating label.
  3. We install or repair the device and adjust the latch so it catches smoothly.
  4. We test it from both sides to make sure it opens freely when pushed.

Code requirements

Exit hardware on many commercial doors is governed by local fire and accessibility codes. We install to the manufacturer instructions and recommend you confirm requirements with your inspector or fire marshal for your building.

My panic bar will not latch. Is that urgent?

If the door will not close and lock securely, treat it as urgent for security. Call us and we will advise on a temporary fix and a permanent repair.

Can you add an outside key?

Often yes, depending on the device. We check the model first.

Do you work on glass storefront doors?

Yes, including narrow-stile storefront doors, as long as the right device is available.
